This week at CSJH/CHS

Congratulations to both our girls and boys, JH cross country teams, as they took on the Three Rivers Conference today and came away victorious. Both teams took 1st place. Proud of all the runners!

Yesterday, our 8th-grade students traveled to Springfield, our state capital, to learn about our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln. The students visited the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum as well as Lincoln's Tomb for an immersive history lesson. It was a fantastic day of hands-on history! 🎩

Congratulations, HS boys cross country on being County Champions at the meet yesterday.

The JH Cross Country meet at Winter Park for today has just been canceled due to the heat. They will have practice inside.

The JH cross country meet Tuesday, 9/15 at Winter Park has been delayed until 5pm start time due to the heat.

Mr. Rollins' classes have been cooking up success in the kitchen! His Foods 1 students recently wrapped up an important unit on kitchen safety and sanitation, then put their new skills to the test by preparing delicious tacos. The real challenge? Preventing cross-contamination between ready-to-eat ingredients and raw hamburger — and they nailed it!



Meanwhile, his Culinary class is on a mission to earn their ServSafe Manager's certification by the end of the semester. They've been diligently working through the required modules, and today's kitchen session featured mouthwatering cranberry jam pork chops. The dedication and skill these students are showing is truly impressive. Keep up the amazing work, everyone!

JH Girls Basketball

Ms. Spillman's 8th hour World Religions class spent two separate days on scavenger hunts around the school to find Egyptian and then Greek gods. This was in the middle of them learning about Ancient World Religions and Mythology. They had a blast following riddles that led them to a part of the school that Ms. Spillman connected to the god that was stationed there.

The Class of 2030 is holding a raffle for a $500 gas gift card. Tickets are $5 each and the winner will be drawn on October 5th. Want a ticket? Find a freshman at the High School Cow Chip Classic XC race on Saturday at 9 AM or at select volleyball games throughout September.
